Thanks to everyone who contributed on the night - donations for the Auction, Draw etc and thanks for Mike stepping in to be the bingo caller! A special thanks to Abbeydale Fish and Chip shop who delivered the food on the evening. On the first weekend in September we entertained Chudleigh Bowls Club from Devon and Humberside tourists. Against Chudleigh we played on 7 rinks against a very friendly side in lovely warm sunshine. The Humberside tourists are made up of players from many of the clubs in the Humberside area. Some good friendships made and we were entertained by President Jeanette and V.P Jake. They were in Gloucestershire for a week long tour visiting 12 clubs.

Good to see Hal Brown playing in a couple of games after his recent surgery

The August Bank Holiday weekend saw us entertain two teams on tours. Sunday we played against Llanidloes Bowls Club from Mid Wales, a smashing crowd and we played with the sun shining and temperature reaching 26 deg C! On  Bank Holiday Monday we entertained Whitney Mills on 7 rinks and again the weather and company were excellent!  Witney were on their way back from the Exmouth area and called in on us as they did 4 years ago, but unfortunately on that day it rained!

It looks like we are guaranteed a third place finish in the Glevum League, the highest I can remember for a long time!

Our penultimate Glevum League game ended in a 12-4 win for Pineholt keeping us in second place, we now have to rely on other results to determine if we finish in the top 3.

The 80th anniversary game took place on Friday 18th August, curtailed by rain but we enjoyed a Buffet and some entertaining speeches from our guests. Thanks to Gordon Blake and Ian Deakins for their contributions and to our wonderful ladies who produced the refreshments.

We entertained Southam Bowls Club who were returning from their South Devon Tour,  the weather stayed dry and we enjoyed their company in the game and the meal afterwards.

The Tournament took place in dry weather and ran very smoothly.  The overall winner was Spakell skipped by Gill Fry from Gloucester Spa Bowls Club. There were 8 teams in the play offs this year - extra prizes for our 25th Tournament Anniversary Year.  A massive thank you to all the 96 competitors and the many club members who worked hard with catering etc. throughout the day. We look forward to seeing you next year and entry forms are available through the 'contacts page'.

The recent home game against Frampton was cancelled by the visitors - such a shame as we had a full five rinks and five reserves.

Friday Nights are still available for new members to attend ( with exception of rain!)

We entertained a side from Pentyrch, near Cardiff, on Sunday 9th July and what a day! the sun shone , the green was full with 6 rinks and a great day with some good company! Please go to the Pentyrch Bowls club website to see pictures taken on the day and an account of what happened on the day.

The Family day took place on Saturday 8th July and was a great success, we had people joining the club on the day and the promise of further prospective members. A great thanks to Phil Blake and Ivan Bullen who organised the event and to the many helpers who attended on the day. Great to see some of our new members also getting stuck in and helping. Friday evenings are available for anyone not attending on the day or indeed anyone wishing to come back again

Our first visit to Eastnor for a club game ended in a very enjoyable day, the club play in the surrounding of Eastnor Castle and it is a superb venue to play bowls.

We had a very sucessfull evening with the Hearts and Hurricanes WI, on a warm barmy Friday evening in May. A good crowd enjoyed a roll up and we are pleased to welcome several new members as a result.  There will be further roll up nights every Friday evening for people to come back and have a go, starting 6.30pm.

The Joan Sterry Cup was won by Graham and Sally Hill. It is good to see Fred Parker back playing again

Our first visit to Shrivenham B.C proved to be a very enjoyable afternoon, nice people and

good hospitality. Fixture already arranged for next season

The opening of the green took place on Saturday 22nd April in glorious sunshine, good attendance and we welcomed several

new members.

Pre-season meeting took place on Tuesday March 14th and a minutes silence was held for Gordon Rodriques, Ron Hyam and Harry Philips. The meeting moved along swiftly with Ivan Bullen explaining the format of the new competition to run this year and urging members to add their names to the appropriate list. A reminder to members that the Parish Council has allotted 18 parking spaces during business hours to a local company, starting April/May.

The 2017 season marks the clubs 80th Anniversary and it has been decided to mark this event with special game during August. The Club will play against a Presidents team consisting of former players and invited guests. The match will take place on Friday18th August at 6.00pm. A Buffet will be taken after the match.
